Your children will be grown in the blink of an eye—or so it sometimes seems. That's why it's so important to start making memories with your children and capturing them for a lifetime in the form of high quality color or dramatic black and white images.
Julia Sieber of Sieber Studio specializes in professional portraiture and lifestyle photography that captures the special times in a child's life. The mother of two small children, Julia understands a child's world and how to work within it. She loves kids and it shows in her photography, which often expresses a full range of a child's emotions in a single session.
Julia lets photo sessions evolve naturally while making the child comfortable by involving parents and siblings. Photo sessions typically last one hour depending on the package you choose, and can be scheduled outdoors, at your home, in a favorite location, or in the studio.
Julia's greatest reward is the satisfaction of seeing people happy with the results of her photography. Her goal is to transform the experience of a family portrait into a special, fun experience that you'll remember forever.
Julia Sieber, the studio's principle, is from Europe. Photography has been her passion since she was a teenager and was trained in photography as an apprentice. Also an artist and graphic designer, Julia loves to create images that highlight a child's unique style and essence. Julia, who founded her studio in 2006, is known for the fresh perspectives and clean look of her images.

Since photos of a newborn are best taken during the first two weeks after birth, it is recommended that you reserve your session in advance of your due date. The session can take place as soon as the mother feels comfortable, and as early as possible after your baby is born to capture the true newborn look.
The six to 9 month period is also a big milestone in your baby's life. That's when he or she will be able to sit up and smile. At one-year, your baby will be able to stand or walk. A particularly endearing time for a photo is when the baby is standing but not yet walking. You may also want to bring a cake or cupcake, and a special outfit to celebrate your baby's first year.
Please ask for our special package of 3 sessions that will capture the first year of your child's life.
Portraits taken outdoors are best scheduled in the early morning (around 8:00 a.m.) or in the late afternoon/early evening (up to an hour before sunset) when the light is the most flattering. The mid-day sun generally produces too many shadows. However, if there is sufficient shade, such as tree cover, we can shoot at any time of the day.
For portraits taken indoors in natural light, early morning to mid-afternoon is best. Most important is to choose a time of day when children are at their peak, well rested, and fed beforehand. Scheduling your session when everyone is at their best is preferred even if it means lighting conditions are less than ideal.
Solid colors, jeans, sundresses, and so forth are great for creating timeless portraits. You'll want to avoid clothes with busy patterns, which can be distracting. Layered and textured clothing, hats, scarves, and belts can also help give a more contemporary look to your images. It's also a good idea to bring more than one outfit. We can assist you in choosing outfits to get the desired look your for your portraits. Bare skin is a timeless look for newborns and babies. Bare feet are also great at any age. If you are being photographed in a group, be sure to coordinate everyone's clothing so it works together (such as colors and style). We also carry various props that can be used during a session.
Simple clothing that has solid, neutral colors can give your portraits a classic, timeless look. Denim or khaki shirts work well for a casual look. Clothing with a busy pattern or with a logo of some kind usually detracts from the essence of the portrait and your family's image. On the other hand, for a more fashionable look, feel free to bring along some trendier outfits with fun and fashionable colors. Feel free to bring several outfits and we can choose which will photograph the best.
For family portraits: choose colors in the same tonal range. You want to avoid having any single individual stand out from the others. Even though you may never go out in public as a family wearing matching clothing, the matched look actually works for family portraits! Plan to wear either dark solid colors if you prefer a more traditional look, or all solid lighter, neutral tones for a more casual look (for example, everyone in white tops and khakis).
For Infants: newborns are at their most precious when photographed in their bare skin, wearing either a cloth diaper or their birthday suit. It's recommended that parents wear black so they blend into the background and the baby becomes the focus of the portrait. Some special props will also be available for use during the session.
You are welcome to bring a CD or two of your favorite music to create a positive mood.
If you plan to be photographed in more than one outfit, bring an alternate outfit(s) for everyone in the portrait as well as appropriate shoes. If you have a baby or toddler, bring whatever you need to keep your child clean, happy, and entertained: diapers, wipes, snacks, and so forth. Please also bring a favorite toy that makes noise, as it may help as an attention-getting tool.
For kids of all ages, feel free to bring a favorite doll, toy, blanket, musical instrument or other hobby item that you may wish to include in the portrait.
Your proofs will be ready to view in an online gallery approximately two weeks after your session. You should expect to have between 20 and 30 proofs to choose from. All orders must be paid in full before they are processed. You will receive an invoice from the studio after your order. Once you've selected your proofs and payment has been received, your order will be available in about two to three weeks. Specialty items may take a little longer.
